Embedding sustainability: From ambition to action in event management

isla Stage

Over the past three years Ascential, the company behind Money20/20 and Cannes Lions, has made significant progress in decarbonising it’s events. It’s gone from measuring 30% of the carbon footprint of a single event, to measuring over 80% of the footprint across all their events. Informed by this data they’ve created a blueprint for reducing waste and carbon across all the events, which is fully embedded across the organisations operations.

In this session you will hear from their COO about how sustainability became a priority for the Exec team and how it has evolved into a key component of the company's risk management framework. They will provide insight into how leadership secured buy-in and aligned sustainability with broader business objectives, balancing short-term pressures with long-term goals.

From the Head of Sustainability, you’ll learn practical steps to operationalise these sustainability ambitions, focusing on how they drive engagement across teams, manage the logistics of data collection, and maintain leadership’s commitment despite day-to-day challenges. The conversation will explore how to maintain sustainability as a priority and how initiatives can go beyond compliance to create real impact in the events space.
