Closing the prevention gap

While prevention is a national priority, existing approaches do not reach everyone equally, reinforcing health inequalities and leaving many people undiagnosed. Using prevention case studies from communicable diseases, this podcast explores how the government’s 10 Year Health Plan ambition to shift from sickness to prevention can be delivered more equitably. It will examine ongoing challenges around lack of awareness, impact of myths and misinformation, tackling stigma and diagnosis. It will also explore how current prevention and vaccination programmes, while effective, are often not sufficiently targeted or inclusive, meaning opportunities to expand access to at‑risk cohorts are missed. The discussion will highlight the role of targeted, community‑led approaches, innovation and partnership in closing the prevention gap at scale, ensuring prevention genuinely delivers for those who need it. This session is sponsored by GSK.
