The 10 Year Health Plan: can reform ambitions meet delivery reality?

One year on from the launch of the 10 Year Health Plan, this session takes an honest and pragmatic look at what delivery has meant in practice, and what the first year tells us about the road ahead. Bringing together national and system leaders at the forefront of implementation, the session will explore where progress has been made, the challenges to delivery experienced so far, and how priorities are shifting as the NHS moves beyond reset and accelerates its reform agenda. Panellists will reflect on the impact of the new operating model, the role of devolution and local leadership, and the extent to which new financial flows and contractual mechanisms outlined in the plan are driving service transformation. Crucially, they will consider what difference – if any – these shifts are already making to patients and communities. With nine years of the plan still to run, the panel will explore opportunities to sustain momentum: what needs simplifying or greater impact, where confident leadership can rebuild trust and improve performance, and which capabilities will be most valuable for delivering improved outcomes across populations.
