What gets measured still matters: mental health outcomes
The need for mental health services to demonstrate the outcomes delivered for patients has never been more urgent. Outcome metrics will be at the heart of the forthcoming Modern Service Framework for severe and enduring mental illness and the 10 Year Health Plan has committed to a universal rollout of PROMs (patient-reported outcome measures) and PREMs (patient-reported experience measures) by 2029. Moreover robust outcome metrics can help to alleviate inequalities and play an integral role in illustrating return on mental health investment. This session will provide delegates with a case study from Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, which has the highest take-up of paired outcome scores across mental health trusts. You will hear about the journey the trust has made towards becoming an outcomes-led organisation, driven by commitments to an effective digital solution and a cultural shift to increasingly focus on the broader value of outcomes to care delivery. The perspective of an expert by experience will also be offered on both the case study and the broader mental health outcomes programme.
